Lennon Glasses Stolen From Statue in Havana, Cuba.

On thursday December 21st the glasses were stolen from a bronze statue of the rock star, presented to the Cuban people on December 8th as part of the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Lennon's assassination.

The glasses were not affixed to the statue, which shows Lennon seated on a park bench, but Cuban officials said the replacemnt pair would be firmly attached, possibly evne welded to the life-size monument. They also plan to increase security around it.

It has happened again!
On the night of January 6'th 1998 it happened again. The famous Little Mermaid at Langelinie, lost her head again. Unknown vilains cut off the head in the middle of the night!

Tourists looking forward to get a glimpse of the statue, were chocked when they met the Mermaid - now without head! Rescue people were at the same time buiding a shade to protect the poor mermaid from the curious eyes of the crowd. here she would have to wait until her head would turn up again, or a new one was made for her !

it didn't take long, before the head was recovered. A reward was offered by a local Copenhagen TV-Station, and it didn't take long before the head was returned to the TV-Station. The reward was never played out, and the local authorities used the money for the restauration. people from all over the world send money, for the restauration aswell.
The Mermaid - intact again
On wednesday, febuary 4'th 1998 the Little Mermaid was intact again. 11am a big crane revealed the "new" Mermaid. It is hard to tell, that the head had been seperatd from tthe rest of teh body. It has been welded back on, and arrangemen,ts have been made to stop others from doing this again !

The terrible news about the vandalism flew around teh world in January 1998. Even though the attention have been if possible even bigger, it is still a shame that tourists and the danish people still must live with this kind of vandalism.

In 1964 the Mermaid lost her head for the first time. This head was never recovered and a new one had to be made.

On Sept 1'st 1961, the hair of the Mermaid was painted red and she was dressed in bra.

On April 28'th 1963, she was drenched with red paint.

On April 24'th 1964 the head was cut off for the first time. The danish artist Jorgen Nash confessed in his book in 1997 that he had commited the crime.

On July 15'th 1976 she was drenched with paint again.

On August 5'th 1990 someone discovered that attempts had been made to cut off the head. An 18cm long cut almost cut off the head!

On January 6'th 1998 in the morning, the Mermaid had lost her head again!
